Youth Panels

The Hessle Road Network youth panel meets each week. We currently have one panel specifically for young people aged 9-12 and one for young people 13-21. The Youth Panels are steering groups which meet to discuss issues and ideas with regards to the HRN Youth Project, young people in general and issues concerning the local community and area.
The Youth Panels have been in place for over 4 years and are still a vital part of the running of the HRN. Each panel is young people led and can have up to 12 young people attending each meeting.

As well as the young peoples monthly meeting, members of the Youth Panels also send representatives from each group to take part in external meetings/forums. These include the HRN Board of Director Meetings - A young people`s representative writes and takes along a report of what`s been happening in the HRN youth sessions
and gives feedback to the Board of Directors. This not only gives young people a great chance to see how our project actually functions and delivers but it also allows the Board of Directors to get a wholly young persons perspective on what is actually happening and what they would like to see happening a very important benchmark to us!
As well as the HRN Board meetings Young People also attend local community consultations, ward forum meetings, community safety meetings and attend Hull
Young Peoples Parliament.

The young people from the Youth Panels are also key
in raising money for the Youth Project and as a result of their meetings have organised and undertaken sponsored walks across the Humber Bridge, put in funding bids to Youth Opportunities Funds and have raised money to set up and run the projects tuck shop.

The Youth Panels continue to be a vital part of the Hessle Road Network Youth Project and the Young Peoples voices are of great importance to everyone working for our organisation. The Panels contribute and ultimately serve as a positive influence on all of the work we
deliver!
